It’s one of our favorite days of the week: Throwback Thursday. What do you notice in those old throwback photos? Take a look at your teeth. If you’re like the rest of us, they’ve gotten darker with time. You don’t notice it as it happens, but each cup of coffee and glass of red wine slowly changes the color of your teeth, until one day the your smile resembles something the shade of dishwater…and that’s just not attractive. But here’s some good news: whiter teeth are within your reach.

The key to good dental care is always knowing your options–the approach that works best for your unique mouth. For minor stains, there are some good, simple lifestyle changes you can make to help brighten your teeth. I’m all for natural solutions, as long as they’re both safe and effective. You might try cutting back on the foods and drinks that stain your teeth, like the common culprits–coffee, dark soda and red wine.

But if your stains are worse than just a little dingy, you have options, beyond keeping your mouth locked up tight. Simple, affordable teeth whitening treatments in our Washington office will have you flashing a healthy, white smile in no time! We offer two options for getting your pearly whites back to pearly and, well, white.

Sinsational Smiles System

This is a professional-grade teeth whitening option that can only be applied by a qualified dentist like Dr. Mace. In just one treatment session–that means just about one hour out of your day–a  treatment can whiten your teeth by up to eight shades. Sinsational Smiles works with a whitening gel that’s activated by a special light, brightening your teeth in about as long as it takes to watch an episode of your favorite TV drama. This is one of the most popular options in dental whitening, and patients worldwide have achieved the white smile they want through an in-office whitening treatment in their qualified dentist’s office.

At-home System

If the in-office option doesn’t fit your needs or lifestyle, or if you want an even whiter smile after the in-office treatment, the at-home whitening system is a great choice. This system uses custom mouth trays worn comfortably at night while you sleep and a bleaching gel to help you get the white smile you want. You’ll notice an improvement in your mouth’s shade within a few days with an at-home system, and full results in one to two weeks. Mouth trays can also be used to upkeep a treatment like the Sinsational Smiles whitening system.

While researching your teeth whitening options, keep in mind that not all teeth are good candidates for treatment. Easy-to-treat stains are yellow, brown and orange shades that have occurred from aging or eating and drinking habits. Hard-to-treat stains include those dark gray tones, or stains on artificial materials. Teeth whitening is also usually a poor option for people with very sensitive teeth or gum disease. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have beautiful white teeth–if dental whitening isn’t for you, we can advise you on another great option, like porcelain veneers, to fit your specific needs.

Whatever teeth whitening option you choose, the team at Dr. Mace’s office is ready to help you achieve the white smile you deserve. Make an appointment today!
